The cream of Gwent's youngsters were in action at Dewstow despite heavy fog making the visibility difficult. In a three-team match, the counties Under 14s, Under 16s and the Academy were in action. With handicaps being given, it proved to be a hard-fought close match with some excellent golf being played despite the conditions. The more experienced Under 16s proved just to much in the end to take the match with 9 points, the Under 14s with 8 points despite not scoing in the first four matches came back to pip the Academy who were off to a flyer with 5 of their 7 points coming from the first three matches. There was a longest drive competition which was won by Matteo Rossi (Under 16s) with James Flower (Under 14s) taking the nearest the pin prize. A special mention must go to young Dewstow junior Matthew Webb, who stepped in at the last minute to cover for an absent player and came home with maximum two points. |
